Happy Monday guys! I’ve gotten requests for work in progress photos, so I will make an effort this year to post them more often. Here’s the first one of the year: I’m currently working on a Rose Print Stretch Charmeuse Boylston Bra with cut and sew foam.
Two things of note: Because I’m using cut and sew foam for the cups, I am not lining the cups. I just cut one set of the cup pieces in the self rose print charmeuse fabric. I’m also lining the frame with the stretch charmeuse so I cut two sets of the frame pieces.
Assembling the frame.
Getting the cup pieces ready.
Assembling the left bra cup.
Crushing the top edge of the cut and sew foam cup with zig zag stitching so the cup fabric will turn over more smoothly. This tip is from Beverly Johnson’s Bra Making: Foam, Lace & Beyond class. And this is the reason why I recommend all of Beverly Johnson’s Bra Making Craftsy classes: they are an endless treasure trove of bra making tips and tricks. (Note: Clicking on the craftsy links and purchasing a class will result in a small commission for me. Thank you for your support. <3)
It’s been a year since I made a cut and sew foam bra. To quickly refresh my memory of the cut and sew foam process, I click to the lesson and chapter that I need and watch it at 2x speed. Super convenient and super helpful. Beverly herself is always ready to answer any questions you pose on the chat feature.
One cup inserted!
Both cups are in! The finished project will be up soon. 🙂
Isabelle of @besabelle made this gorgeous Watson Bra using our (sold-out) blossom orange ombre lace! View the project here.
Hannah of Evie la Luve just released The Lingerie Makers Project Book! The book has enough room for 15 lingerie sewing projects and other helpful lingerie sewing information. The first 10 people who buy it will receive inside a code for 15% off her shop.
Have a great weekend everybody!

Last year, when I held the Tailor Made Shop 2016 Feedback Survey, a lot of you put in a request for bra kits in fabrics other than lace. In fact, a large number of you left a comment stating that you would like to see more charmeuse kits.
Well your wishes have been heard! Charmeuse kits in six solid colors have been added to the shop! Like lace kits, the charmeuse kits will be a mainstay amongst underwire bra kits offered by Tailor Made Shop.
To give you an idea of what a charmeuse kit looks made up, I whipped up this navy charmeuse Marlborough Bra. I love how elegant this bra looks and I have more plans for charmeuse bras in the coming months!
Happy 2017 guys! I can’t believe it’s already the new year! To start it off right, I made some new underwear for myself!
Today’s post features Cloth Habit’s Lady Shorts! It’s a free pattern by Amy of Cloth Habit and I have no idea why it took me so long to make this pattern. The fit is fabulous and the best part about this pattern is that it’s graded in numeric sizing! This means you can really fine tune the fit.
This is the first time I’ve used narrow elastic trim to finish the waistband and leg openings. Verdict? Love it! It’s soft to the skin and less fussy to sew than picot elastic or FOE.
This pattern is very beginner friendly, so I recommend it to anyone who wants to dabble in lingerie. The materials required are scant and Amy has a helpful recommended materials post here and construction post here.
I made two lingerie sets. Set one contains a self-drafted balconette bralette and hipster panties in Lilac/Pink. You can view that post here. Set two contains the Merckwaerdigh BHS10 Bra in View C and hipster panties in Lavender/Peach. You can view that post here.
@adventures_in_lingerie made a gorgeous partial band bra using a black scallop lace from our shop. You can see the project here.
Kat made a stunning floral/lace self-drafted full band bra with handmade hook and eyes! You can read more about her project here. If you have been wanting to make your own hook and eyes, check out her comprehensive Self Fabric Bra Clasp Tutorial!
Karen made two beautiful Madalynne x Simplicity 8229 Underwire Bras. One is in gray and the other is in pink. (Photos were uploaded with Karen’s permission.)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I can’t believe the year is already drawing to a close…!
Today’s set is actually a Christmas present to myself. This lace is one of my favorites in my personal stash. I’ve hoarded it away for over two years, because I couldn’t find a stretch lining color that was a good match or a good complement for the unique lace color.
Recently, I came across a rosy pink stretch mesh that looks amazing with the lace so I finally cut into it.
I used two of my favorite patterns: my self-drafted balconette bralette and the Make Bra Hipster Panties.
I pattern hacked the Hipster panties to accommodate for a lace scallop edge on the back leg openings.
The lace was actually not wide enough for the panties, but I zigzag stitched two lengths of lace together using this method that Maddie, Sarah, and Erin have posted about on their blogs.

Hi guys, quick update today. This aqua set features the Madalynne 8229 Underwire Bra with vertical seams and Evie La Luve’s Bella Panties. Since I’ve made them before, there’s not much to say about them. I just wanted to share photos of them in case people are curious about how this lace looks made up.
