Yellow Merckwaerdigh BHS10 Bralette & Bella Panties
Hi guys, I’ve officially joined the Merckwaerdigh BHS10 Sewing Party!
I was inspired by everyone else’s Merckwaerdigh BHS10 bras on Instagram, so I finally made one (and then some). The view that I am most interested in is View C. I used a bright yellow lace from my shop and lined it with ivory power net.
A couple of things abut this pattern. It’s definitely not beginner friendly! I think the instructions are kind of sparse, so I would not attempt this pattern until you’ve made a few bras. The other thing is that there are no built-in seam allowances or elastic allowances–you have to add them yourself.
I can’t comment on the fit until the recipient tries on the bra, but I love that it’s really different from any bralette pattern out there currently. I have plans to make more of this view because I like how it integrates the lace scallop edge on the straps and side cups.
Of course, I couldn’t resist making matching Bella Panties as well.

SO PRETTY Ying! I’m not generally a fan of yellow, but I’m feeling very tempted by that lace now that you’ve shared your BHS10. I also made this bra as a gift, and found the fit to be very flexible — perhaps because it isn’t a super structured bra — my recipient was very pleased with it. Whomever receives this bra set from you is very lucky & sure to be delighted.

Thank you Ginny! 🙂 I’m pretty neutral about yellow in general but I really like this bright yellow lace. I think the lace pattern makes it look very elegant actually! I agree–I think the lack of a proper cradle and the side cup makes the fit very forgiving…I’ll report back on the fit once the recipient tries it on.
