Evie la Luve Frankie Panties in Art Gallery Printed Knit Cotton Jersey Fabrics Handmade Underwear DIY Panties

Hi guys! The panties sewing addiction continues! This week, I bring you six pairs of Frankie Panties in Art Gallery Prints. I was first introduced to Art Gallery fabrics when Hannah posted a picture of a pair of Frankie Panties that she made in the Yinghua print. I did some some window shopping on fabric.com and ended up picking out three Art Gallery prints to work with.

When it comes to clothes, I’m really not a prints person. I honestly only like to wear solids and shades of gray. But when it comes to underwear, I can get a little out of control. Now that I have a panties pattern that I really love, I’m going all out with updating my panties drawer with some fun and gorgeous prints!

Here are the six pairs of Frankie Panties that I made using Art Gallery cotton jersey knits and the details on them!

(Note: Only half of the Frankie Panties shown are in my size (XS). The other half are in XXS and are a gift for a friend’s upcoming birthday!)

Fit & Sizing

I didn’t talk about the fit and sizing in my Frankie Panties Pattern Review, so I’ll do it here.

The pattern fits true to size in fabrics with 40-50% stretch.

So my hips are 35″, which puts me at size XS. I’ve made the Frankie Panties in stretch mesh and Art Gallery cotton jersey. Stretch mesh has 50% stretch and Art Gallery cotton jersey knits have 40% stretch in all directions. These all fit perfectly.

However! I also made the Frankie Panties in a stretch mesh (not shown) that only has 20% stretch and it took quite a bit of shimmying (think getting into skinny jeans) to get into them. It fits, but it’s definitely on the tight side. If you pick a fabric with low stretch (under 25% stretch), consider sizing up one size!

You’re a panty-making maven Ying! Those are all so, so lovely. Digging through my Art Gallery knit scraps to see if I can squeeze out a few pair — thanks for the inspiration!

I’ve got some undies in the works with that bougainvillea print, leftover from a knit top. I’ve had them cut for at least half a month now and still haven’t sewn them! Super cute!

The bougainvillea print is my favorite! Which panties pattern did you cut out?

I have a pattern traced off from ones I already own: the way of the student!
